Peter Smith – Managing Director of Legal Expenses

Peter Smith is Managing Director for Legal Expenses Insurance and Head of ATE and is responsible for the profitable development of the company's Legal Expenses insurance business.

Peter has worked for FirstAssist for 19 years and his role involves all aspects of the business process from product design, marketing and selling, through underwriting to claims service delivery.

Previously, Peter has dealt with all non-Life classes of insurance in the UK, Africa and several European countries and has Management Consultancy experience in European Insurance strategy. He is an Oxford graduate and fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Peter is a member of the Civil Justice Council and also sits on the Legal Services Commission’s Multi-Party Actions Committee.
